SUMMARY:Beaded Kumihimo Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Make A Holiday Gift In 2½ Hours!\nKumihimo\, a Japanese form of braiding\, is translated as “gathering of threads.” The earliest form of kumihimo dates back to 794 BC\, when braids were used to secure clothing in religious ceremonies\, and later on Samurai armor. Today Kumihimo is used to make beautiful jewelry. Nationally recognized instructor\, Yin Guang\, and Naomi Ellenberg-Dukas will unfold the mystery of Kumihimo\, instructing workshop participants in making a beautiful beaded Kumihimo bracelet. \nThanks to a grant from the Belmont Cultural Council\, the normally $100 workshop is free\, other than a discounted $20 materials fee. Bracelet kits include a reusable Kumihimo disk\, satin cord\, seed beads (with some color choices)\, and an attractive catch. Previous Kumihimo experience is helpful but not required! You will leave the workshop with the skills and basic materials to continue this satisfying art. Additional supplies will be available for purchase. \nRegister ASAP by emailing Naomi Ellenberg-Dukas-at-DukasDesigns1.com. \nInstructors\nYin Guang is a nationally recognized beading instructor whose classes at major national shows sell out quickly. A former physician\, she now owns Ancient Moon Beads in Watertown. She is an expert in many forms of jewelry making. Students and customers love to Kumi with her! \nNaomi Ellenberg-Dukas is the President of Beadesigner International\, owner of DukasDesigns\, and Co-Chair of the Belmont Art Association. She has taught classes and displayed her work locally\, and sells at Karenna Maraj Jewelry Collection\, Belmont.
