SUMMARY:Cushing Sq. Art\, Wine\, and Food - Sept. 2014
DESCRIPTION:Several shops in Cushing Square collaborate to put on this monthly cultural event. \nUnCommon Finds” presents the Belmont Art Association artist\, Sophia Mone who will be exhibiting her oil paintings and monoprints Sept 6-Oct 5th. Mone’s work explores many aspects of the curve particularly with abstracted figures\, landscapes and recently a DNA double helix.  Her color palette is southwestern although her printmaking background reconnects her with black and white imagery.  The reception will take place on Friday\, September 12 from 6-8pm in conjunction with “The Spirited Gourmet” wine tasting from 5-8pm.  A coupon for dessert (with 2 entrees purchased) at “Savino’s Grill” will be available at reception\, (valid for that evening). \n“Savino’s Grill” Artist of September is Belmont Art Association member\, Christine Chang. \nunCommon Finds: 432 Common Street\, Belmont\nSpirited Gourmet: 448 Common Street\, Belmont\nSavinos Grill: 449 Common Street\, Belmont

SUMMARY:United South End Artists Open Studios
DESCRIPTION:Over 200 Artists on hand to kick-off Boston’s Fall Open Studios Season \nSouth End Open Studios is celebrating its 28th anniversary this year.  The event\, begun by a small group of artists\, has grown to encompass 12 major buildings and numerous smaller spaces throughout the South End. Over the last few years\, some of Boston’s most noted galleries have also made the South End their home. \nThe free event showcases the works of more than 200 established and emerging artists creating art in a wide variety of media including painting\, sculpture\, photography\, ceramics\, glass and fiber.  The public is welcomed into their studios and galleries to meet the artists\, talk about the art and purchase art directly from the artists.  A number of artists will also be doing In-Studio demonstrations throughout the event including photography\, paper quilts\, and letterpress printing. \n

DESCRIPTION:Often called one of the most Family Friendly arts events\, The Jamaica Plain Open Studios (JPOS) is an annual celebration of the arts in Jamaica Plain that gives the public and artists an opportunity to connect\, converse and deal in art works. \nA volunteer-driven event\, JPOS takes place in artists’ homes and studios as well as group sites and businesses throughout Jamaica Plain. \nJPOS reflects the vibrancy and diversity of our neighborhood\, and strengthens a dynamic community of artists\, patrons\, and supporters.
