DESCRIPTION:Minna Rothman’s solo exhibit\, Fenestra in Aeternum is showing at the Friends Center in Cambridge from February 1 to March 31.  \n\n\n\nReception\n\n\n\nSunday\, February 25 at 12:30 pm.  \n\n\n\nIn Minna’s talk\, she will cover concepts of kilim and Dine/Navajo flat weave\, to contemporary tapestry originating in the Bahaus design movement. All are welcome. \n\n\n\nThe exhibit is open for public viewing on Tuesday – Friday 10 am – 2 pm\, 5 Longfellow Park (Harvard Sq.\, on Brattle Street across from the Longfellow Museum). Please ring the buzzer to be let in. If you message me before coming\, I can meet you at the Center for a private tour. \n\n\n\nP.S. Because Melody’s story is so fascinating we asked if we could share her talk during the BAA 10th Anniversary Celebration month. Although the focus here is on bead making\, Melody’s story is really about an artist who had an epiphany about sharing her skills.Melody is the author of four books and five wire-work booklets. She has taught her distinctive jewelry-making techniques all over the U.S. and as far away as Morocco and West Africa. She is also the co-founder and director of Soul of Somanya\, https://www.soulofsomanya.net\, a fair-trade non-profit that offers paid training and steady\, living wage employment to disadvantaged Ghanaian artisans. \n\n\n\nPlease RSVP if you are interested in joining us for this virtual talk next Wednesday.
