DESCRIPTION:During the summer months\, works by Richard Hill will be featured in the Belmont Gallery of Art. It’s always fun to discover the personalities portrayed in his “Collective Iconographies.” \n\n \nI See the Best Minds of My Generation Destroyed by Madness\, Acrylic on Canvas Panel\, 24’x36′\, © Richard Hill \n\nHill describes his “Collective Iconographies” as assembling and juxtaposing multiple iconic portraits and grouping them together thematically. Images are drawn from a wide array of familiar media – magazine covers\, coins\, sculpture\, photographs\, comic books and the like. Each painting seeks to faithfully imitate the style\, medium and vocabulary of the original images to ensure that they are readily recognizable. \nVisit our Belmont Gallery of Art and enjoy the humorous\, thoughtful\, and sometimes quirky juxtapositions in each piece. \n\n\n\nGallery Hours\n\nRegular Staffed Gallery Hours\nThursday and Friday 10am–4pm\nSunday 1–4pm \nAdditional Hours\nVisitors are also welcome to visit on other weekdays 10am–4pm

SUMMARY:CALL TO ARTISTS: Pictures at an Exhibition Reframed
DESCRIPTION:Malden Creates is putting out this Call to Artists\nArtists in the Greater Boston area are invited to produce artwork for Pictures at an Exhibition Reframed\, a juried show of two dimensional art inspired by Mussorgky’s piano work\, Pictures at an Exhibition. \nThe deadline for submissions is August 24\, 2016. \nAccepted submissions will be displayed at a public performance of this suite of ten movements for piano by Yelena Beriyeva in Jenkins Auditorium in Malden\, Massachusetts on Saturday\, November 5\, 2016. The event will also include a dramatic presentation inspired by the friendship between the two original artists\, a special high school art exhibit\, and projections of select submissions during the concert. The exhibit of accepted artists’ work will continue in the gallery at MATV\, Malden’s Media Center and online until January 12\, 2017. \nMalden Creates is an informal collective of individuals and organizations in Malden creating opportunities\, events\, initiatives\, and art in Malden.
