SUMMARY:Sanya Colson-Inam - "Noir" - Reception
DESCRIPTION:Sanya Colson-Inam\, BAA member\, has artwork in the “Noir” exhibit. \nFrench for “black\,” the term noir is typically associated with mystery films of the 1930s and 40s such as Double Indemnity and Kiss Me Deadly. These films incorporated stark black and white lighting\, hard-boiled detectives\, sexy femme fatales\, numerous plot twists\, smoky bars\, and dangerous back alleys\, plus murder\, mayhem\, and other dastardly deeds. In art\, noir can express itself through literal representation of these concepts–black and white photography\, pulp novel illustration\, depictions of violence\, etc–as well as more obliquely\, with imagery inspired by mystery\, darkness\, smoke\, and classic film. \nArtists submit work that responds to the concept of noir\, whether it draws from noir films\, murder plots\, and mystery novels\, or more abstract concepts of light/dark\, cinematic composition\, or dangerous relationships. \nExhibition Dates: October 6 – 30\, 2016\nReception: Thursday\, October 6\, 6-8pm
