ARTIST STATEMENT
Susan Johnson’s watercolors explore light, shadow and strong lines. Contrasting values in reflections on water, the rugged New England landscape, human and animal forms and buildings in perspective are among her favorite subjects. In addition to watercolor, she enjoys mixed water media, pencil and ink, painting playful natural scenes on wooden furniture and painting the very occasional large-scale backdrops for local musicals.
