ARTIST STATEMENT
For me, “art is the expression of one’s inner self… Artists represent what is, has been, will be, or is worth arguing or representing, through imagination, feelings, and intellectual stimulation of the viewer’s mind.” My work represents many subjects from representational to non-representational with an emphasis on abstract representations.
In my current series “Imagine”, my work reflects my personal ideas about emotional expression, resulting in richly textured abstract canvases in various color schemes that incorporate mixed-media elements. The compositions are abstract and emotional, referencing natural forms and movement, filled with bright paint swirls, playful paper cut-outs, and three-dimensional objects. It is a continuing experimentation with form, color, and medium, explorations of certain themes and response to personal experiences. Most of the resulting pieces present great details and require an attentive look that takes one’s imagination to wherever one’s inner feelings will bring it. It is a snap-shot representation of stories that unveil under my brush or through various mixed-media, letting innovation and creativity materialize on the canvas or paper to represent a view of what should be. Being bored with repetition, I am tempted not to ever do the same thing twice. My pieces represent the many aspects of my life’s interests and the intricacies of a moment working through paint and materials to result in an harmonious balanced colorful end, leaving the viewer to his or her imagination to finish the story I started, making the invisible, visible.
