An exhibit inspired by Anita Diamant’s “The Boston Girl”
The Belmont Gallery of Art invites artists to submit work for its upcoming juried “Family Ties” exhibit, inspired by author Anita Diamant’s “The Boston Girl.” This is the book selected for the Belmont Public Library’s 2016 One Book, One Belmont Town-wide read event.
Diamant’s best-selling novel tells the story of 85-year-old Addie Baum, recounting her life growing up in Boston’s neighborhoods in the early 20th century. The novel touches upon several themes, but family and family relationships are central to the story. How one interprets the theme of “family” is left up to each individual artist.
Artists working in visual arts media including painting, photography, drawing, mixed media, printmaking, collage, flat fiber art, digital media and sculpture may submit up to three (3) pieces for consideration.
Full details, including application form, are on the Belmont Gallery of Art’s website.
