New Works Exhibit and Special Events!

Special Events: BAA Art-Making Workshops (Free)! Refresh your skills or learn some new techniques… The Belmont Art Association (BAA) in partnership with the Belmont Gallery of Art (BGA) present a series of four special summer art-making events on Thursday evenings. All workshops take place 7-9pm at the Belmont Gallery of Art. Thurs., June 29: DRAWING PORTRAITS Rick Corbett. Corbett, an award winning pencil artist/portraitist will demonstrate his personal process of creating a portrait based on light as well as structure to capture the personality of his subject. An example of Corbett’s work is below: Thurs., July 13: KUMIHIMO NECKLACE WORKSHOP Naomi Ellenberg-Dukas, of DukasDesigns, will demonstrate Japanese beaded braiding to create a single strand kumihimo bracelet. This technique has unlimited designs and varying degrees of complexity, but this will start with the basics. Materials will be supplied to 10 attendees (by lottery to those present). Naomi is President of Beadesigner International/New England Bead Society. Thurs., July 20: SIMPLIFIED ANATOMY Drawing the Human Figure from Imagination and Life – led by Damon Lehrer. Lehrer has taught at RISD, Boston University, Art Institute of Boston, Mass College of Art, and Montserrat College of Art. Founder of Boston Figurative Art Center, Somerville.
